Sending an email may be the fastest way to follow-up after a meeting, interview or sales pitch, but it is not necessarily the most long-lasting. Consider creating custom correspondence in Microsoft Word, where you can design corporate note cards \u2013 no pricey graphic designers required. With Word\u2019s note card templates, half your work is already done. With setup out of the way, you\u2019re free to design something with a personal touch that may sit on your recipient\u2019s desk far longer than it takes to delete an email.
Launch Word, click the \u201cFile\u201d tab and select \u201cNew.\u201d Click the \u201cCards\u201d button, then double-click the \u201cNote cards\u201d file folder icon.
Scroll through the template offerings. Word\u2019s templates may not exactly suit your business or the purpose of the note card, but each may be completely customized. Choose a card that is closest to your purposes to save you setup time, and click the \u201cDownload\u201d button. After a few moments, the note card template opens in a new window.
Click the picture on the cover of the card. Press the \u201cDelete\u201d key, then click the \u201cInsert\u201d tab. To add a custom picture, such as a gathering of all your employees for the cover of a holiday card, click the \u201cPicture\u201d button, navigate to the image and double-click it. This is also the way you would add your corporate logo, such as for the inside of the card. To add images from Word\u2019s clip art collection to match the card\u2019s theme, click the \u201cClip Art\u201d button. Type a term into the search box, scroll through the results and click an image or images to add to the card.
Highlight the placeholder text on the front of the card. Enter your own text, such as \u201cGreetings from\u201d and your company name. Repeat this for the text on the inside of the card, where you may want to type a holiday message, birthday note or corporate announcement. To add additional text to the card, click the \u201cDraw Text Box\u201d button on the \u201cInsert\u201d tab. Drag the mouse to form the text box, then type inside of it.
Check the back of the card. Some templates have a personalization area near the bottom where you can type \u201cThis card was made by\u201d and your company name, as well as your address, website, phone number and other contact information. If this is not present, you can add it by inserting a text box as described in the step above.
Click the \u201cFile\u201d tab and select \u201cSave As.\u201d Type a file name for the card, navigate to the location on your computer where you would like to store it and click the \u201cSave\u201d button.
